Reports on our founding, 2020/21. All press reports

„Everyone should be able to wear high-quality masks.“

Guiding principle since our founding

Your Mask was founded in Berlin in the summer of 2020, when masks were scarce and mostly imported – often expensive and of varying quality. Our answer: our own production in Germany, materials from German suppliers and evidence for every claim. Today we manufacture on our own production lines in Bad Dürrheim in the Black Forest.

One year after founding: our first production lines of our own.

This is how it started: our former production in Berlin-Reinickendorf, from nonwoven on the roll to the measurement on the test head. Five minutes.

Tested quality from Germany – on fair terms.

Three principles – and the evidence for each.

  1. Tested and documented

Every statement about our masks is backed by evidence – standard, testing body and result.

    • EN 149:2001 + A1:2009
    • CE 0158

Frequently asked questions about FFP2 masks

In brief: how to recognise a good FFP2 mask and how it should fit.

Questions about the YOU-M4, packs and payment
How do I recognise a good FFP2 mask?

First, by the marking on the mask and packaging. The following are mandatory:

  • CE mark with the four-digit number of the notified body
  • Protection class FFP2 and standard EN 149:2001 + A1:2009
  • Manufacturer, model designation, batch number and expiry date

A high-quality mask has no odour, is easy to breathe through, and the nose clip is worked into the fabric rather than glued on – which is gentler on the skin.

What is the difference between FFP2 and KN95?

KN95 follows a Chinese standard, FFP2 the European standard EN 149. Both require high filtration – FFP2 at least 94%.

The difference lies in the procedure: in the EU, a respirator may only be sold as protective equipment with a CE mark. This requires a type examination by a notified body and monitoring of production. For the YOU-M4, that body is DEKRA, as the CE 0158 marking shows.

What is the difference between FFP2 masks and surgical masks?

Surgical masks mainly retain the wearer’s droplets and therefore primarily protect others. FFP2 masks also filter fine particles and aerosols from the air you breathe – at least 94% – and so protect the wearer too. A tight fit is essential.

Why does an FFP2 mask have to fit tightly?

Air takes the path of least resistance. If the mask does not seal, air flows past the edges unfiltered. The maximum leakage allowed at the edges is part of the EN 149 test.

How do I put on an FFP2 mask correctly?

In six steps, following the YOU-M4 data sheet:

  • Wash or disinfect your hands and check the mask for damage.
  • Unfold the mask, pre-bend the nose clip slightly and place the mask under your chin.
  • Pull both ear loops over your ears without twisting them.
  • Pull the ear loop gently: it stretches to fit your head size until the mask seals snugly.
  • Fit the mask and nose clip to your face and nose with both hands.
  • Check the fit: place your hands over the mask and breathe out strongly. No air should escape at the edges.
How long can I wear an FFP2 mask?

Masks marked “NR” are for single use. Replace the mask as soon as it becomes damp or breathing gets harder, at the latest after one shift. At work, the wearing times of the German statutory accident insurance (DGUV) also apply. We advise against drying or heating masks to reuse them.

For larger quantities, we will prepare a quote for you.

We quote from one pallet or for a framework agreement, and facilities can buy on invoice by arrangement. Single packs can be ordered directly in the shop.
